what we do
Ar is an accordion duo. Dedicated exclusively to contemporary music, the duo is warmly open and predisposed to collaborate and work closely with composers, seeking new resources and means of expression, to bring the instrument and the performer's role to new places. The two members, Mirko Jevtović and Maria Mogas Gensana met during their studies with Klangforum Wien in the Performance Practice in Contemporary Music program under the guidance of Krassimir Sterev.

Maria Mogas Gensana
Graduated from Musikene ("Conservatorio Superior de Música del País Vasco", Spain) from the Bachelor Degree in Accordion Performance in with Prof. Iñaki Alberdi, Miren Iñarga and Aitor Furundarena.
In order to further her studies, she has participated in various master classes with internationally-renowned accordionist such as Stefan Hussong, Mika Väyrynen, Janne Rätyä, Alexey Artemiev, Veli Kujala, James Crabb and Mie Miki... She has taken part in several contemporary music academies like Klangspuren IEMA Summer Academy 2018, Mixtur Festival 2018, Impuls 2017 or Carmelo Bernola Academy 2016-2017, where she had de chance to work with composers like Rebecca Saunders, Simon Steen-Andersen or receive lessons from Severine Ballón, Miquel Bernat or Ensemble Intercontemporain. As a soloist or member from different chamber music chamber music ensembles Mogas has performed for example in Victoria Eugenia Theater in the inauguration act of the "European Cultual Capital 2016 San Sebastián", "Fundació Música Contemporània" in Barcelona, "Instituto Cervantes de Burdeos", Ligetti-Saal (Graz) or Oper Graz, Artikulationen Festival from Doctoral Studies in Graz, Mixtur Festival in Barcelona, FAT Festival in Burgos (Spain)... She is current student of PPCM (Practice Performance of Contemporary Music) Master Studies in Graz with Klangforum Wien and with Prof. Krassimir Sterev. |
Mirko Jevtović
For exceptional studying successes he was awarded with the double Prešeren's Award, by the Music Academy in Ljubljana and the University of Ljubljana, which is the most prestigious student recognition in Slovenia. Jevtović completed his Master's degree with the highest grade and honors - diploma "Summa cum laude" by the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. As a soloist or invited member, Mirko performed with the RSO Wien, Klangforum Wien ensemble, Schallfeld ensemble, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Labacensis and Young Ljubljana Soloists , led by conductors Nacho de Paz, Beat Furrer, Bas Wiegers, Cornelius Meister, En Shao, Darko Butorac and others. He has performed at festivals such as Ljubljana Festival (Slovenia), Philharmonic Music Festival Bratislava (Slovakia), World Days of Music ISCM 2015 (Slovenia), Tzlil Meudcan (Israel) and Musikprotokoll (Austria). Jevtović had recorded several times for the archives of RTV Slovenia. In 2015 he participated in the recording of the CD “Poetics of the Gaze” by Spanish composer Alberto Posadas with ensemble Klangforum Wien, published for NEOS Music label. He attended masterclasses of renowned accordionists and seminars such as Impuls Academy (Austria) and the International Summer Academy for New Music in Darmstadt (Germany). As a scholarship holder of "The Best of South-East" program, he completed his Master's degree of Performance Practice in Contemporary Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria), under the mentorship of the ensemble Klangforum Wien. Since 2020, Mirko has been a regular member of Schallfeld Ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble based in Graz, Austria.
